Deepness of the Fry is a 2019 graduation film from The Animation Workshop in Denmark, directed by studio founder August “Poul” Niclasen. The film was succesful in the international film festival circuit, and won several awards.

An experiment disguised as a film

Team work can be difficult on school projects, so how do you make sure people want to work on your short film?

Deepness of the Fry was an attempt to facilitate a production where every team member could make whatever they wanted. Between every cut in the film would switch to a new style and focus on entirely different characters.

The challenge would then be to edit together a coherent film with that visual premise.
